Reserves up to $3.6 billion

State Minister of Finance Mr. Ranjith Siambalapitiya says that Sri Lanka has not yet paid its bilateral foreign loans and all other loan installments are already being paid.

The minister also mentioned that our country currently has foreign reserves of about 3.6 billion dollars. The minister said this while speaking to the media after a program held in Avissawella.

Further commenting here, the minister mentioned that last week two bills important to the country's economy were amended and two more regulations related to the country's economy were approved in the parliament without debate.

Accordingly, he mentioned that they have taken steps to obtain approval for 02 regulations related to the Import Export Act and Exchange Control, and to amend the Inland Revenue Act and the Social Security Tax Act.

The minister also said that the social security tax imposed on the import of unpolished gems for re-exports, for equipment used by people with special needs, and for rice was removed.

The minister further said that the measures for the systematic expansion of the contracted economy will be taken in this way.

$3.6 பில்லியன் வரை கையிருப்பு உள்ளது

எமது நாட்டில் தற்போது சுமார் 3.6 பில்லியன் டொலர் வெளிநாட்டு கையிருப்பு இருப்பதாகவும் அமைச்சர் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார். அவிசாவளையில் இடம்பெற்ற நிகழ்வொன்றின் பின்னர் ஊடகங்களுக்கு கருத்து தெரிவிக்கும் போதே அமைச்சர் மேற்கண்டவாறு தெரிவித்தார்.

இங்கு மேலும் கருத்து தெரிவித்த அமைச்சர், கடந்த வாரம் நாட்டின் பொருளாதாரத்திற்கு முக்கியமான இரண்டு சட்டமூலங்கள் திருத்தப்பட்டு, நாட்டின் பொருளாதாரம் தொடர்பான இரண்டு விதிமுறைகள் விவாதம் இன்றி பாராளுமன்றத்தில் அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்டதாக குறிப்பிட்டார்.

இதன்படி, இறக்குமதி ஏற்றுமதி சட்டம் மற்றும் பரிவர்த்தனை கட்டுப்பாடு தொடர்பான 02 ஒழுங்குமுறைகளுக்கு அங்கீகாரம் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளவும், உள்நாட்டு வருமான சட்டம் மற்றும் சமூக பாதுகாப்பு வரிச்சட்டம் ஆகியவற்றில் திருத்தம் செய்யவும் நடவடிக்கை எடுத்துள்ளதாக அவர் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.

மீள் ஏற்றுமதிக்காகவும், விசேட தேவையுடையவர்கள் பயன்படுத்தும் உபகரணங்களுக்காகவும், அரிசிக்காகவும் பாலிஷ் செய்யப்படாத இரத்தினக் கற்களை இறக்குமதி செய்வதற்கு விதிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த சமூகப் பாதுகாப்பு வரியும் நீக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக அமைச்சர் மேலும் தெரிவித்தார்.

ஒப்பந்தம் செய்யப்பட்ட பொருளாதாரத்தை முறையாக விரிவுபடுத்துவதற்கான நடவடிக்கைகள் இதன் மூலம் மேற்கொள்ளப்படும் என்றும் அமைச்சர் மேலும் தெரிவித்தார்.
