The fate of Walas Kata who tried to escape
It is reported that Thilina Sampath, alias Walas Kata, who is in custody, has suffered injuries to her hands and legs as she tried to escape from police custody.
Walas Kata is currently being interrogated at the Western North Crime Division under a 90-day detention order.
The suspect said that he needed to go to the toilet at around 9.15 last night.
It is reported that the suspect took off his handcuffs and went to the toilet with four officers.
It is reported that Walas Kata attacked the police officers while going to the toilet and jumped from the third floor.
Police say that the suspect's legs are broken as a result of the jump and that one of his arms has been broken at the elbow.
The police said that the injured suspect is receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital amid tight police security.
